BH BusHero v0.1.0
Free & open-source · early alpha

The transportation department, handled.

BusHero is transportation management software built for school district offices. Field trips, student records, drivers, vehicles, and change history — all in one place, on servers you control.

Current preview

Field trips, students, drivers, and vehicles on the same screen.

Most transportation offices juggle email, spreadsheets, paper forms, and phone calls. BusHero pulls that everyday work into one place.

The boring stuff matters.

Trip requests need approvals. Student notes need to be findable fast. Drivers and buses need to be assigned without guessing. That's what BusHero starts with.

  • Field trip requests, approvals, and driver assignment
  • Student records with contacts, needs, and important alerts
  • Driver schedules, availability, and assignment conflicts
  • Fleet records, maintenance status, and readiness notes
Development status

Like most things in education, it's a work in progress.

This isn't finished software. Some parts work well, some are still rough — and I'd like to hear from anyone who runs school transportation.

In progress

  • Student records and imports
  • Field trip request flow
  • Driver and fleet records
  • Change history and user permissions

Run it yourself

  • Self-hosted app and database
  • PostgreSQL database
  • Runs on district servers
  • GPL license

Not ready for daily use

  • Things may change
  • Needs more testing
  • Docs are incomplete
  • Best for trying out, not relying on yet
Self-hosted & open source

Your server, your database.

BusHero runs on servers a district controls. Student records, trip requests, driver assignments, vehicle notes, and audit history don't have to live in someone else's system.

About

Built by a transportation director, for transportation directors.

I'm keeping the project small while it's still early. The goal is to build what transportation offices use every day, then make it solid.
